Our surgeons have vast expertise with kidney cancer surgery and are experts in partial nephrectomy, a procedure that involves the removal of a kidney tumor while preserving as much healthy kidney tissue as possible. This helps maintain kidney function and decreases the risk of kidney failure and dialysis later on. Most kidney surgeries at Fox Chase are also performed using minimally invasive robotic techniques, which allow for less blood loss, smaller incisions, and quicker recovery than traditional open surgical techniques.
Our physicians are skilled in using both radiofrequency ablation and renal cryotherapy to either heat or freeze tumor tissue, destroying cancer cells in the process.
Medical oncologists at Fox Chase develop a comprehensive, patient-centered and team-based plan for each individual.
